The Hacker #1
My fingers danced over the keys as I typed in code after code. Through the firewall... past the details...here we are. My adoption records. I found out I was adopted a month ago, and I left that same night.
I haven't had access to a computer until today or I would have found the records sooner. I'd been living in a cheap apartment with some friends in Soho, New York, and I could barely afford the cab to the New York Public Library. My friends and I have been trying to find a job, which isn't easy considering we're only fourteen. The only things I'd brought with me were a toothbrush, 7 changes of clothes, my cell phone, and $100. Mr. Nightingdale, the landlord, shared his refrigerator with us, but we could only afford a package of bread, peanut butter, turkey, mayoniase, mustard, and sometimes an energy drink.
